Koh Toa's status spread and rapidly increased as it broadly became known throughout the world through international travellers and adventurous visitors. This was the same year that the 1st settlers laid claim to a large part of land on which is now known as Sairee Beach. The early 80's brought to KoTao some of the very first travellers from Ko Phanganwho were looking for something innovative away from the crowds and masses who were going barmy for the full moon party on Koh Phangan. Here they located something more than just a new islandto explore and soon the backpackergroups were energetic about the wonderful newly found islandparadise. Mesmerised by the outstanding pure white beaches, the back of beyond aura, and of course the low-priced living, backpackerssoon came in droves. Departure and arrivals were on the local fishing boats, and even then hold-ups of several days were regular. Back to the hammock and a world of dreams; The boat comes another day . As a result, as its standing for elegant nature, outstanding marine life and mind-blowing landscapes grew, easier access was made available when enhanced and safer boats were brought in to cope with the number of visitors, being attracted to the island.
